Episode 18 Group 3

By some miracle, they escaped.  Jacob could hardly believe it.  It was hard to believe the whole scenario in the first place, but now they were free.
When Jacob, Matt, and Jane all carted up the tunnel and out into the open air, a helicopter was already heading their way.  Apparently, calls were made about noises in the tunnels.
The police in the helicopter asked a lot of questions, like where their dead friends were, what Jane got bit by, etc.  However, Jacob found it difficult for the cops to believe their crazy story.  At first, the police even accused them of trespassing. Yeah, right.
Now, Jacob and Matt waited in the hospital lobby while Jane rested in her treatment room across from them.  Two cops stayed with them, and Jacob talked their ear off with every detail from what happened.  Matt fell asleep on the couch quite instantly.
Once the cops left, and the excitement was over, Jacob was feeling pretty exhausted himself.  He closed his eyes once, and surprisingly two hours had passed.  Jacob shook off his grogginess and inspected the hospital’s clock.  Two hours?
It was hard to believe because the hospital didn't seem busy.  In fact, since arriving the only other people Jacob ran into aside from their cop escorts were two nurses.  It was very quiet and empty.
Not only that but no one had gotten back to them about their families.  When Jacob asked the cops about phone calling loved ones they said they already took care of it and to wait and use the phones at the hospital.
However, Jacob had yet to locate a phone or be offered one.
Matt slept heavily on the couch cushions, totally at peace.  Jacob wanted to enjoy this as well, but something was itching at him.  After everything they’d been through he wouldn't be surprised if he formed some mild PTSD.
“Where are we?” Jacob asked out loud.
Interesting, he thought.  In the panic and excitement of escaping the mine, none of them had bothered to ask where they were.  Jacob just assumed they were close to home; that his apartment and college and friends were all just a couple hours away if anything. What if that wasn't the case?
Driven by his new found curiosity, Jacob left the comfort of the waiting are and looked around for a nurse, a cop, or anyone.  The desks were empty, but computers were on and paperwork was properly placed.  What time was it? Maybe people were at lunch?
For some reason, his heart was starting to race.  Calm down, he told himself, this was all crazy but he refused to become crazy.
At that moment, a sound disrupted the uncomfortable silence.  It was the same commotion that occurred when Jacob, Matt, and Jane were rushed in.  People were rushing someone in a stretcher, talking loudly over each other.  A few voices were panicked, asking questions.
Jacob heard the noise get closer down the long hallway of hospital rooms.  He watched a blond man being taken into the room on his stretcher, a red-haired girl and a biker looking guy in a leather jacket being escorted down the hall towards Jacob.
The girl with the red hair had puffy pink eyes like she’d been crying.  The biker had his arm around her, and they both looked like they’d tangled with death.  Jacob couldn't help but feel an eerie sense of deja-vu.
